Construction already is underway but work officially began Tuesday at Clayco Corp. affiliate’s 14-story, $66 million apartment building in the Delmar Loop.
Clayco officials presided at a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday. When completed in August 2017, the building at 6105 Delmar Boulevard by Clayco’s CRG Real Estate Solutions will have 209 apartments, garage parking and storefronts.
Partnering with CRG on the project is the Koman Group. Both companies had bosses at the groundbreaking ceremony. Speakers praised the project they predicted will help Loop businesses by bringing more residents to the area. The building is going up on what for years had been a vacant lot.
Otis Williams, executive director of the St. Louis Development Corp., reminded the crowd that the city likes projects that restore and renovate historic old buildings.
“We also want and love new construction in the city,” he said.
